~ EVE ~

A circle enclosing a dot is one of the oldest symbols and reflects the image of the womb containing the spark of creation. Ancient Mesopotamian myths depict the sun as a Goddess. She was Estan among the Hittites, later revised into a male divinity, Istanu. Another Sun-goddess was Arinna, "Queen of Heaven and Earth" She was also Hepat or Hebat, whose consort was the sun god. This name passed into biblical tradition as Hebe, Eveh, and Eve.

The alchemical sign for gold is the same as the symbol of the sun. Gold has always been equated with the sun because of its color and brightness and with the idea of immortality because of its impervious nature. Gold is never dimmed by corrosion or rust. It does not deteriorate in water or disintegrate in soil or mud. Fire can melt but never impair its luster.

It is considered a precious metal with enduring quality.

This magickal symbol of brightness has never to been dimmed by time.

Thus we always have a place for Eve, for without her light shining on the Garden of Eden, all the plants and beasts would be without life and the love of woman.
