~ WAX FACTS ~
Throughout history, beeswax has played an equally important role as her sweet sister, honey.
Building from the Ancient Egyptians, who used tallow-soaked, torches, Romans have been
credited for developing the wicked candle. These were used to aid travelers through dark
nights, lighting homes, and places of worship.
Beeswax makes the finest ~Illuminations~, producing a bright, smokeless flame; casting a warm,
golden light; and producing a pleasing, natural, honey scent when burned. Storage for long
periods of time does not change these exceptional qualities, although beeswax will develope a paler
complexion, called a "bloom". Also, since beeswax has a hotter melting point then other waxes,
it will keep it's shape better in warmer weather and climates.
Blessed Bee! ~Illuminations~ are created from this exquisite material, not only for the superior
properties it possesses, but because of what it means to our health and environment. Paraffin,
the most common candle-making material and a petrochemical product, is dissolved into the air
we breath as the candle burns away. So in addition to supporting a less sustainable
form of industry, we suspect the chemicals are toxic to humans and other beautiful beings.
In our collective hive, here is a sure success formula:
provide more facts about beeswax
+ more hives & bees
= an increased bounty of flora
& more wax for our lovely ~Illuminations~
It is truly, A Blooming Passion!
